Creating a Shared Vision

What?
The Bayonne Green is a 2-in-1 park and micromobility GreenWay network: a small loop for getting around town and a big loop for getting around the bay.

Avenue A Street Park
Our first GreenWay connection in Bayonne can be a linear park. We can reverse engineer our traffic grid so that some road space is recovered for the park using a new traffic circulation plan. To do this we leverage Bayonne’s unique traffic grid geometry and social density to provide more efficient transportation alternatives.

BAY1-X
This inter-city route connects Bayonne with Liberty State Park and downtown Jersey City, with direct transfer to PATH train at Exchange Place. This transit hub can offer connections to further interstate and regional destinations via high speed rail.

440-X
This route connects Bayonne and Jersey City West Side, parallel to state route 440, along the waterfront.

Broadway Waterfront Boardwalk
The boardwalk directly connects the city center and waterfront, enhances local and inter-city mobility options, and serves as a catalyst to create a greener, calmer, and more vibrant urban enterprise zone. The proposal looks back to the city’s historic heritage as a popular seaside resort while tapping into Bayonne’s proximity to its neighboring cities and surrounding parks.
Why?
We have a unique opportunity in Bayonne to transform our mobility and create wealth by connecting the GreenWay.
Bayonne is growing faster than ever, but there is no safe micromobility option in Bayonne today, even though this represents the mobility needs of a growing portion of the city population. Ignoring the issue risks mounting frustration with traffic and transit, accompanied by heightened financial strain. We might not have another such opportunity as we do now for determining the future of our city.
By aiming to boost ridership and considering multiple issues with one solution, the Bayonne Green aspires to create more value for more people for a highly in demand and sought after world-class amenity.
How?

This Shared Vision presents a first of its kind, crowd-sourced mobility network,
created through a participatory process inclusive of public input. This proposal
intends to inspire a better mobility future in Bayonne for all, by kickstarting the
proposal development process and providing a benchmark for further iteration.
