Instead of asking, “How can we accommodate micromobility users?” we can reframe the problem as an opportunity: “What opportunities does a micromobility network create for Bayonne?”

Finding a solution that reaches higher demand is the top priority for micromobility adoption.

The GreenWay offers a network solution that aims to create more value for more people in order to increase demand.

If the micromobility option offered by the GreenWay can increase demand, then the GreenWay can reach the adoption threshold needed for a modeshift and unlock the benefits of GreenWay-oriented development.

GreenWays

provide the advantages of mobility networks that bike lanes do not.

bring park access closer to people and more green space into the urban environment.

offer high quality connections that not only support the current demand, but also attract new users.

How can we bring the park into the city, closer to everyone’s doorstep?

In response to the unsafe and stressful traffic conditions Miso, Bayonne Green co-founder, experienced on his first bike ride off the sidewalk in Bayonne, he launched a survey and a series of impromptu, informal street conversations where he asked micromobility users and pedestrians about their street safety concerns. Responses showed that risk tolerance is the biggest barrier to micromobility participation.

This survey uncovered a broader sentiment that bike lanes require giving up something that is in very high demand in exchange for something that does not deliver enough value to enough people. At the same time, there was resounding agreement that the park is a nice place to bike.
