The Bayonne Green calls on our Mayor and City Council to:
- Adopt a resolution setting the goal for a bike path and modeshift in Bayonne.
- Update the City masterplan for GreenWay-oriented development, by unifying Complete Streets, Vision Zero, and transit-oriented development (TOD) policy.
- Adopt a resolution stipulating a permanent funding mechanism for the GreenWay network.
Advocacy Asks:
1. Support demand – create a more attractive transportation alternative, craft a route that is immediately useful to people.
- Commission a comprehensive benchmark traffic study.
- Commission an incremental pilot study.
2. Connect the network – add destinations and increase service coverage to further boost demand.
- Support Jersey City bid to build a protected micromobility route along Phillip St as part of the ongoing Liberty State Park revitalization project.
- Hold the NJ Turnpike Authority responsible for the “turnpike underbelly” (not just what goes on the turnpike, but what happens below it as well) as part of any new construction negotiations.
3. Define the urban zone – transform the city center from a place for cars to drive through, into a place to be.
- Commission additional pilot studies to build on earlier findings.
